1. Who we are
Staycation is a curated hotel discovery site. We help you find a place to stay and hand you off to our booking partner (Agoda) to complete your reservation. We don't process payments or store payment details ourselves.
2. What we collect
Information you give us. If you fill in the contact form, we receive your name, email address, and the message you send. If you recommend a hotel or get in touch about a partnership, the same applies.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we receive standard log data such as your IP address, browser type, referring page, and timestamps. We use your approximate location (derived from your IP) to show hotels relevant to your region.
Cookies and similar tech. We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies to remember your region/currency preference, measure traffic, and improve the site. You can clear or block these in your browser settings.
Location, when you ask. If you use the “hotels near me” feature, your browser will ask for permission to share your precise location. We use it only to show nearby hotels for that session — we don't store it.
3. How we use it
- To show you hotels and destinations that are relevant to where you are.
- To reply to messages you send us through the contact form.
- To measure how the site is used so we can make it better.
- To detect and prevent abuse, spam, and fraud.
- To comply with legal obligations where they apply.
4. Who we share it with
We don't sell your personal information. We share limited data with the third-party services that help us run the site:
- Agoda — our booking partner. When you click through to a hotel booking, Agoda handles the reservation, payment, and customer support under their own privacy policy.
- Hosting and analytics providers — including Vercel (hosting and analytics), Supabase (database), and Google Analytics (traffic measurement).
- Email delivery — when you contact us, your message is sent via a standard email service so we can reply.
- Maps — when you view the map, tiles are loaded from a map provider, which may receive your IP address as part of that request.
We'll also disclose information if required by law, or if necessary to protect our rights, our users, or the public.
5. International transfers
Staycation is a global service. Your information may be processed in countries other than the one you live in. Where required by law, we rely on appropriate safeguards for those transfers.
6. How long we keep it
We keep contact form messages only as long as needed to reply and to keep a reasonable record of the conversation. Analytics data is retained per the provider's default retention settings. Logs are typically retained for a short period for security and debugging.
7. Your choices
- Cookies. Block or clear cookies in your browser. Some preferences (region, currency) won't persist if you do.
- Location. Revoke browser location permission at any time through your browser settings.
- Access, correction, deletion. If you've been in touch and want a copy of the information we hold about you, or want it corrected or deleted, email us — see the contact section below.
- Marketing. We don't run a marketing mailing list. If we ever do, it will be opt-in only and you'll be able to unsubscribe with one click.
8. Children
Staycation isn't directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you think a child has provided us information, please get in touch and we'll delete it.
9. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold — but no system is perfectly secure. If you believe your data has been compromised through Staycation, please contact us right away.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the “last updated” date at the top. For significant changes, we'll make it more obvious.
11. Contact
